Saturday Night Sprain

Hello again.

K here. Yep just me. All by myself. ūüė¶¬† B¬†is out getting her drank on. I was supposed to go too but earlier this week I happened to slip off a step and sprain my foot. I figured by now it’d be feeling better but of course not! Any pressure on it at all feels like a railroad tie is¬†being crammed through my arch. I’m stuck wearing a hideous boot (for 4 long, dreadful weeks) and the hobble I’ve got going on is not the kind of swagg I want to show off on the dance floor.

Anywho… B and our cousin C went out and I’m¬†hoping they are having a blast by now.¬†Great thing is that they were nice enough to drop by and say hello before they went out. Now something you should know about us girls and a night out… We always get prepped before hitting the bar.

So these two are drinking it up as we all sit around The Smoke Lounge and chat. (There is a pic of The Lounge in the Favorites tab) I sat smoking my Marlboro Light as they chug-a-lugged on their boozahol¬†and snapped new pictures to post to Facebook. You do know it’s a female ritual now¬†days. “OMG we look so effin¬†sexified¬†righhht now! Pictures!”¬†Haha (not really them, but kind of typical of most ladies) I snapped a few for them as well and so wished that I wasn’t wearing sweats, an ol’ funky pink¬†tank top, one flip-flop, my hideous boot, and to top it off a half ass pony-tail.¬†I guess it just sucks in general to¬†feel left out.

So the ladies headed out and I hobbled back inside off the porch. I was ready to crash out and call it a night. Once I made it up the stairs and down the hall¬†to my king size haven (the most comfortable bed EVARRR)¬†I got nice and comfy then found myself closing my eyes and imagining that I was there¬†shakin’ my ass around the bar with them. ūüôā¬†If I can’t be there tonight my spirit will be damn it!

So yes I may be typing this up for you¬†to read (I know you love it)¬†but truly I’m eyeballing¬†some stud standin’ at the bar as I dance across the floor whippin’ my hair back n’ forth. Whoooooooo (Can ya see it?)

ūüôā Me too.¬† (The Stud at the bar would be my handsome Hubby though, tehe)

I’m off to dream… G’night you.¬†¬†¬† ~ K

B & K’s Nom Nom Salad!

This salad is a sure-fire way to convert people who don’t eat “rabbit food” as K’s Hubby likes to call it.¬†We¬†first made this¬†salad¬†last summer and it has become a staple dish at all of our¬†family gatherings. Everyone loves it!¬†It is not one of our original recipes but we wanted to share it anyway because it’s that damn good! As B says… “This shiiiit¬†is Fiyah!”

First off… get a giant bowl and some salad tossin’ tongs! You’ll also need an empty jar with a lid (to shake up the home-made dressing) Pull out a skillet and spatula¬†as well. (The spatula can be used to spank the ass of whomever disturbs your chef-like state.)

Other stuff you’ll need…

1/4 cup of slivered almonds

1 bag spinach leaves (9 ounces)

3/4 cup thinly sliced red onion (don’t cut your finger tryin’ too hard to chef it up! Bloody onions aren’t very tasty!)

1/3 cup pomegranate juice (K substitutes with Marzetti’s Simply Dressed Pomegranate Vinaigrette)

3 tablespoons sugar

3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

2 tablespoons dark sesame oil

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

1/8 teaspoon salt

2 cups quartered strawberries (rinse first,¬† they’ll taste much better!)

4 ounces of crumbled goat cheese (shredded parmesan will do if you can’t find goat cheese but we’d like to say it’s not as good)

Sounding good so far???  Just wait until you take that first bite and a party starts in your mouth!

Now you’ll want to get some butter (about 1/2 teaspoon) and throw it in the skillet on¬†medium heat, next you’ll dump in your slivered¬†almonds. You’ll toss them around for a few minutes until they’ve browned just a tish. Remove to a small bowl and set aside to cool.

Here is where you’ll need your giant bowl. Dump in the spinach leaves and thinly sliced red onion. Toss it, Leave it, for a few a minutes… unless you have 4 hands. Haha

Now grab your jar and mix up the pomegranate juice, sugar, veg oil, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and salt. Place lid on jar and shake it vigorously. Shake it like Polaroid picture… shake it… shake it… K thinks it helps to dance around the room pretending ya know how to do the salsa as well. It should be well blended before drizzled over salad.

Once dressing is blended, pour over spinach and onion, toss to coat. Now you add the strawberries and toss again… I know a whole lotta¬†salad tossin’ goin’ on! B is a pro at tossin’ some salad! Not that way you perverts!! hahaha

Top it off with your toasted almond slivers and goat cheese.

Viola! You have made yourself B & K’s¬†Nom Nom Salad!! (4 big servings)

We hope you all enjoy this recipe! Let us know what you and your family/friends think of it!

Yours Truly,

B & K

The Nom Nom Salad never lasts too long around here… Sad faces… Ahh… until next time.

Who or what is this B K Special???

Hello there,

To answer the question we are sisters. Sorry nothing about Burger King over here… We¬†often find ourselves in some sort of mess that we’d like to share with you all for some laughs. Usually we find entertainment in everything we can. We enjoy laughing and sharing time with our friends and family. We happen to enjoy a good adventure or a hilarious prank once in a while as well.

We have recently started having family dinners on Sundays. This past Sunday was a lot of fun. We made tons of food that we’ll share the recipes for¬†later on.

By the time we get you hooked on our blog, you’ll wish you were here too!

Who knows, maybe someday… you could be!

Yours Truly,

B & K
